Stornoway Port Authority at a recent meeting of the Board considered a letter and enclosed protest from The Outer Isles Presbytery of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland in connection with the introduction of Sabbath Ferry Sailings by CalMac Ferries Ltd as from 19 July 2009.

 The Board noted the letter and protest and in their response to the Outer Isles Presbytery advised that there was nothing the Port Authority could do statutorily or legally to prevent the ferry departing or arriving at the harbour on the Sabbath.
